Why Alteruna?
My company Alteruna is a Swedish gametech company with technology used to develop, test and run multiplayer games and other real-time apps in the cloud for, for example, industry or healthcare.
Easy to get started – prototypes can be ready in an hour
“Drag-and-drop” and ready-made components – no complicated installations
Works both in the cloud and locally in the school network
Support for online services other than multiplayer – e.g. for authentication, storage, monetization
Already used by schools in Sweden and internationally
Support for teaching:
Pre-made course material and teacher manual
Code templates for the most common games
Integration with Google and Discord for GDPR-secure login
Prioritized support via Discord, phone and email
Onboarding with workshop to get started quickly
AI support for support and coding via text prompt (Vibe-coding) – all students should be able to participate
The people behind Alteruna have a long background in developing software and services for schools. At Alteruna, we have lectured on multiplayer for both gaming schools and universities, and we have held network courses in programming for students at Yrgo in Gothenburg and Future Games in Stockholm. We are also used by gaming schools and universities in different parts of the world. We currently have 12,000 started projects and 850 registered developers on our Discord server.
Multiplayer is growing incredibly fast but has long been reserved for the big studios. It doesn't have to be that way. A platform like Alteruna helps and supports all developers, even high school students. We know it for a fact, since we have a lot of school students among our users.
I am convinced that a service like Alteruna is useful both at school and in our free time. The AI support means that all students can be involved in development, not just the most talented ones. It is also a big plus when students choose a school :-
Great — for your multiplayer game development tool with cloud integration, presenting to a range of educational institutions (like gaming academies, K–12, and universities) means highlighting different tiers of support and customization while showing how your product fits into **teaching, learning, and institutional goals**.
